After switching the display shows 'SAFE' followed by '1 - - - -'

Press preset [ 1 ] repeatedly for the first digit
Press preset [ 2 ] repeatedly for the second digit
Press preset [ 3 ] repeatedly for the third digit
Press preset [ 4 ] repeatedly for the fourth digit

To save the code press the [ EXPERT ] key for a few seconds.

'SAFE' will display briefly and the set will operate.

Having replaced the battery on my Focus, them found that there was no radio code in any of the original sales documentation. Ford wanted �20 to get the code, which considering they had not supplied in the first place is a cheek. Once I found the serial no. then went on line to ASW and typed in the no. got a reply within a few seconds. Went out to the car inserted the code and bingo.
