Having replaced the battery on my Focus, them found that there was no radio code in any of the original sales documentation. Ford wanted £20 to get the code, which considering they had not supplied in the first place is a cheek. Once I found the serial no. then went on line to ASW and typed in the no. got a reply within a few seconds. Went out to the car inserted the code and bingo. Smart Serial Number's

Smart car radios will normally contain a 14 digit serial number which can be found either printed on a label or engraved on the side of the unit.

These serials are only visible once the Smart radio has been removed from the vehicle.

Using our Smart radio decoding system, you are not only saving money, but also time and the hassle which is involved. Most vehicle main dealers require you to book in your vehicle and take the car and proof of ownership along before they apply for the radio code.
Usually the code will be based on your vehicle registration or Chassis number which can mean you are not getting the code for the current unit fitted to the car, especially if the radio has been replaced at any stage in its lifetime.

There are a number of reasons why a stereo code based on the vehicles chassis number or registration may not work, these include:

• The radio was changed under manufacturer warranty.
• The car stereo was changed for an improved model, i.e. tape to CD player.
• A used car dealer changed the head unit at time of sale on request.
